Biography

Maurizio Molinari is since 2001 the US correspondent of the Italian national daily newspaper La Stampa. Prior he was the EU correspondent in Brussels and the diplomatic correspondent in Rome.

He arrived at La Stampa in 1997. Since 1984, when he began his career as a journalist, he has covered foreign affairs and defense for La Voce Repubblicana, Il Tempo, L'Indipendente, L'Opinione, Il Foglio and the magazine Panorama.

In the last ten years Molinari has reported on assignment from the Balkans, the Middle East, Iraq, Iran, North Africa, Turkey and the Horn of Africa.

He comments for Rai, Sky News,Mediaset and La7 on Foreign Policy and Us events.

He has interviewed leaders and policy makers such as George W. Bush, Laura Bush, Ban Ki-moon, Kofi Annan, Condoleezza Rice, Paul Wolfowitz, Madeleine Albright, Henry Kissinger, the Saudi King Abdullah when he was Crown Prince, Muammar Qadhafi, Tareq Aziz, Alì Akbar Velayati, Kamal Karrazi, Ali Akbar Nateq Nuri, Benjamin Nethanyahu, Shimon Peres, Elie Wiesel, Yasser Arafat, Abdullah Ocalan, Javier Solana, Hugo Chavez, Rogrido Rato and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Having studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at the Manchester College of Oxford he graduated from La Sapienza University of Rome in Political Sciences (1989) and History (1993).

A native of Italy, he was born in Rome in 1964 and married Micol in 1994, they have two children, Eli and Chana.
